New York College is celebrating its 30th anniversary having been founded in 1981, growing out of a professional holistic health clinic and the patient requests to learn the techniques that were being used to heal them. It expanded as interest in learning the Eastern healing arts and their integration with Western medicine gained awareness in the community. A college level curriculum in Massage Therapy was developed and approved by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York, the first in the State. It was registered as an Associate degree program in 1996, the first degree program in therapeutic bodywork in the United States.

In 1992, the College was the first institution in the State to register an Acupuncture program. This program, along with the Oriental Medicine program, was granted combined Bachelors/Masters degree status in 1998. Both of these graduate level programs at New York College of Health Professions have been accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) since 1996. In May 2007, New York College received institutional accreditation by the New York State Board of Regents and the Commissioner of Education, a nationally recognized accrediting agency. It is the only college on Long Island in this field to have institutional accreditation.

Today, this premier institution of holistic medicine is recognized worldwide. New York College of Health Professions is located in Syosset on the north shore of Long Island, and also owns a 35-acre medical facility in Luo Yang, People's Republic of China, where students, alumni, staff, faculty and friends can visit during College sponsored 2-week cultural immersion trips.

New York College is committed to the maintenance and enhancement of health - physical, psychological, spiritual and institutional, and to enrolling the highest qualified and motivated students. Faculty and staff are proud of the diverse student population comprised of recent high school graduates as well as adult learners adding skills or changing careers. The campus is a modern, spacious facility that houses the Administrative offices, classrooms for all programs, a Physical Arts deck for the practice of T'ai Chi, Yoga and Qi Gong, study lounges, a computer lab, an extensive Library and one of the largest holistic clinics in the country, as well as an Herbal Dispensary. The on-site Teaching Clinics become an essential part of the educational experience where all students do their clinical internship treating the public. The community benefits by receiving massage therapy, acupuncture, herbal medicine and herbal consults, reflexology, facial rejuvenation and holistic nursing treatments from interns under the supervision of licensed, experienced practitioners at discount prices.

New York College also has a wide-ranging offering of Continuing Education classes for health care professionals and the public including Holistic Nursing for Registered Nurses and T'ai Chi or Yoga Instructor Certification.

New York College operates on a trimester basis and begins new classes in September, January and May for all programs. If you are interested helping people while helping yourself, the field of holistic medicine and New York College of Health Professions are right for you. The College has been pioneering holistic health care and education for 30 years. It offers accredited undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Massage Therapy, Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine; a Certificate program in the Science of Self Improvement and a New York State Nurses Association approved continuing education program in Holistic Nursing for RN's.

The journey to a better life starts with a single step and this is a journey you should consider.
