Mount Sinai School District

Located on the north shore of Long Island, the Mount Sinai School District has an important education tradition coming from the early 19th century; when the original school building was build in an unknown area between North Country Road east of Mt Sinai Coram Road.

In 1869, the district gained a second one-room school on a half acre of land situated on the southeast corner of North Country and Mount Sinai Coram Road. With the addition of a second classroom in 1908, the building served the community until 1960 when the school was moved before the District was founded. With the opening of a High School in September 1991, the District now has three buildings, self-contained in a campus-like atmosphere.

Today, with a population estimated at 11,000, and approximately 65 miles east of New York City, Mount Sinai Parent Teacher Organization promotes the health, welfare and safety of children. Working for greater understanding and cooperation between parents, teachers, administration and students, with an educational program designed to prepare all students to meet the challenges of the future.
