Long Beach City School District
Long Beach City School District consists of seven schools in the Barrier Island located on the south shore of Long Island. This area is also known as the Gold Coast because the white, sandy beaches which are among the most beautiful in the world, the common scenery from a glance out of a classroom window.
Long Beach was incorporated as a city in 1922, with the schools under municipal administration, until 1924 when the independent Long Beach Union Free School District was formed, becoming a City School District in 1951, situated near six major universities, educational and cultural centers of New York City.
The quality of instruction at Long Beach City School District has been the concern of the staff serving a school population of approximately 4600 students. The district has a pre-kindergarten school, four elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, one alternative high school, and one adult learning center with a dual language learning program, because learning Spanish is growing minds. |
