Island Trees School District

The Island Trees School District was formed as a common school district in 1902. In 1945, the entire student population was 23 students. By 1949, that number had increased to 271, and in 1951 there were 1,060 youngsters attending school. Enrollment peaked in 1961 with a total of 5,855 school-age children in Island Trees. Presently, 1,048 students are housed in the Michael F. Stokes and J. Fred Sparke Elementary Schools.
