Walt Whitman High School is a comprehensive high school for students in grades 9-12. Our course offerings include required studies in English, history, mathematics, science, health, art, music and physical education. Elective courses are available in such areas as mathematics, science, social studies, foreign languages, business education, industrial arts, fine arts, and music. The grouping system provides teaching on all ability levels. An array of extracurricular choices is provided for all students, including a full intramural and varsity sports program.
Numerous Advanced Placement and college-sponsored courses are offered, thus academically able students find it possible to complete a year of college work in one or more subject areas. Remedial classes are provided for students needing special assistance. Students may also enroll in vocational courses at the various BOCES Technological Centers during part of each school day. Transportation is provided by the school district. |
