We are a neighborhood elementary school (1-6) located in the eastern quadrant of Oceanside. The oldest portion of our school dates back to the late 1920's, with several additions being added in the forties and fifties. A new cafeteria/classroom addition was opened in 1992 and a newly renovated auditorium was opened in the spring of 1995. All new windows and doors installed during the summer and fall of 1995 will add to the building both aesthetically, as well as, from an energy efficiency prospective. Though we are one of the oldest school buildings in Oceanside, technologically we are very prepared for the twenty-first century. Every classroom is equipped with one to four networked p.c.'s, with CD capabilities. In addition, phone and cable television hookups allow for teachers and classes to communicate and receive information from around the world. A new technology, video teleconferencing, allows us to have live interactions with museums, zoos, other schools, etc. across the country without ever leaving our school.

Our school annually adopts goals which we hope will have a positive impact upon our students. It is our hope that through a concerted effort by the entire staff and community that our students will demonstrate that they care about themselves, their peers, their teachers and the school environment. When children exhibit those types of behaviors they will be showing themselves as "good citizens." Each month a specific positive behavior is highlighted around the building. For example, September is "Caring", October is "Cooperation" and November is "Thankful." The creation of an original school song as part of "spirit week" had added to this effort.
