The same educational program is offered to all children in South Huntington's elementary schools. The skills and knowledge in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, science, language arts, health and citizenship education are taught by certified, well qualified classroom teachers. Specialists are engaged to teach art, music, and physical education. Special district wide services are available from reading consultants, school psychologists, speech therapists, social workers, librarians and school nurses.
Classes usually average 22-27 in enrollment. Individual differences among students are addressed through enrichment or remediation. Instructional media, supplementary materials and field trips are integrated in the regular program. |
