Polytechnic University
Founded in 1854 is the United States second oldest science and engineering school and is considered to be best in educating technology leaders of tomorrow in the Long Island area. This is a private, do -educational institution. The quality of education that has been seen throughout history has always been of excellence electrical engineering, polymer chemistry and aerospace and microwave engineering. Today, it is known as a leader in telecommunications, information science and technology management and for its research centers and its wonderful outreach programs that encourage math and science education in New York's Elementary and High Schools.
Polytechnic University has four campuses which include their Brooklyn Campus, Long Island Campus, Westchester Campus and Graduate Center.
The Brooklyn Campus is located at 6 MetroTech Center, Brooklyn, NY 11201 and their telephone number is (718)260-3600. The easiest way to get to the campus from Long Island is to take I-495 west to I-278 west to Tillary Street which is exit 29. When you get to the third stop light make a left on to Jay Street. Parking is available at the Marriott Hotel. The Long Island campus is located at 105 Maxess Road, Suite N201, Melville, New York, 11747 and their telephone number is (631) 755-4300. From New York City the easiest route is to take Long Island Expressway which is I-495 east to exit 49S or RT. 110 S. Amityville, then merge onto the S. Service Road, go about ½ mile and turn right onto NY-110S, next turn left onto Baylis Rd and then make another left onto Maxess Road. From North Long Island you will need to take Long Island Expressway which is I-495 south to exit 49S going toward Amityville, then merge onto the S. Service Road, go about ½ mile and turn right onto NY-110S, next turn left onto Baylis Rd and then make another left onto Maxess Road. From Southern Long Island you will need to take Southern State Parkway to the CR-2 N/Straight Path exit which is exit 36N going towards Wyandanch, merge onto Straight Path/CR-2. Turn left at Little East Neck Road, and then turn left onto Colonial Springs Road, which will turn into Ruland Road, now turn right onto Baylis Road and the right onto Maxess Road. Westchester Campus is located at 40 Saw Mill River Road, Hawthorne, New York, 10532 and their telephone number is (914) 323-2000. The best way to get there from Long Island is to take Whitestone Bridge or Throgs Neck Bridge and take the Hutchinson River Parkway north to Exit 13. Next go west on the Cross County Parkway all the way to its western end. Now you must go north on Saw Mill Road. Taking the River Parkway for around 8 miles to the Hawthorne Exit, this road will end at Route 9A where you should left going north. You will see the Westchester campus up ahead. The Graduate Center is located at the same address as the Brooklyn Campus and directions are above. Polytechnic University offers degree programs as well as certificate programs. The degree programs offer a wonderful graduate experience with an environment that is designed especially for each individual student. Along your studies you will work with industry leaders, combine theory with real world application that will aid you in your choice of careers. The schedule is very flexible and will also accommodate people that are already in the work force with classes offered in the evening and on Saturday's.
