Farmingdale State University

Farmingdale State University offers 29 Programs for Degrees with additional programs for Certificates. This public University is coeducational and has an annual enrollment of around 6,000 students. The University targets degrees in of business, arts and sciences, health sciences and engineering. The students of Farmingdale like the fact that studies are set in small personal classes and it allows them close one on one learning with their Professors. This College is one of a kind in the fact that it's the only public college that teaches a comprehensive base of programs in the Applied Sciences and Technology.

Students of this University are prepared to be problem solvers and learn valuable life skills like, appreciation of culture, ethics, esthetics and cultural diversity. When this University was first built it mainly focused on farming technologies like, included Farm Crops, Soil Fertility, Dairying and Animal Husbandry, Forestry and Beekeeping, Olericulture and Fruit Growing, Farm Mechanics and Farm Management, and the college dates back to the 1920's . As the school matured, its focus widened to include science and technology in addition to the agricultural sciences.

Today Farmingdale State University offers a course in Strength of Materials in the Mechanical Engineering Technology Program. In April 2001, Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim of the MET Dept. received a Summer 2001 Research Fellowship at NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center Dr. Ibrahim was chosen as a result of his contribution to the area of fatigue and fracture of thermally sprayed materials. His research project at NASA will focus on the fatigue and fracture of advanced aerospace materials.

Farmingdale State University school of Engineering Technologies offers degrees for:

The School of Business offers degrees in: Business, Computer Systems, Ornamental Horticulture, Visual Communications, and The Cisco Networking Academy. This special field of study teaches students to design, build and maintain small to medium-size computer networks. Farmingdale State, Long Island's first higher education Cisco Networking Regional Academy, offers a four-semester sequence of courses leading to the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification by examination that is administered by Sylvan Prometric.

The program is designed to prepare students with little or no knowledge of networking concepts for the challenges internetworking technicians, administrators and engineers face in the 21st century workplace. Students will also learn how to configure and manage Cisco routers.

The School of Arts and Sciences offers degrees in fields of: Mathematics, Bioscience, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Liberal Arts & Sciences along with Professional Communication Security Systems.

The School Of Health Sciences offer degrees in the fields of Dental Hygiene, Nursing and Medical Laboratory Technology.

Farmingdale State University has a great line up of sports for both men and women. Men's sport offer Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Golf, Indoor Track, Lacrosse, Outdoor Track, and Soccer. Women's Sports include, Basketball Cross Country, Indoor Track, Lacrosse, Outdoor Track, Soccer, Softball, and Volleyball.

Golf lover will simply love their Golf Simulator that features over 35 championship courses, including Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines, Bay Hill, and Pinehurst. It's very realistic as balls that bounce off trees, splash in the water, spin on the green, and even balls that hit the flagstick.

Being a student at this University offers the opportunity to join about 20 different student clubs, and many simply love to visit the Java coffee house and meet new people or just hang out with some of your friends . It's a great setting to discuss class assignments and get ideas from fellow class mates. The Library is ever so popular with its enhanced technology classrooms that provide unique learning experiences, while our athletics program offers welcome distraction from the classroom. Farmingdale encourages students to make friends and build relationships that can enhance and fill their lives.

Farmingdale State University Tuitions break down as follows:

Full-Time Students -New York State Resident will cost $2,175 per semester and Out-of-State will cost $5,305 per semester. Part-Time Students that are New York Stat Resident cost $181 per credit and Out-of-State figures to be $442 per credit. There is a college fee for Full-Time Students of $12.50 per semester and for Part-Time Students $0.85 per credit. The College Fee is mandatory and includes the cost of general laboratory and classroom materials and supplies.

Student Activity Fees for Full Time is $100 per semester and Part Time $8 per credit.

The Student Activity fee is mandatory and supports the activities sponsored by student organizations. These activities and events are offered at various times throughout the semester, and are open to all students. The fee is determined by student vote.

The Technology Fee supports the increased use of computing and communication technology in the deliverance of academic course offerings and administrative services available to all students. It cost $120 per semester for Full Time and $9 per credit for Part Time.

You may become a member of the Alumni Association by making payments of $12.50 per semester by simply adding this fee to the total amount due on your bill. There is a lifetime cap of $50.

The Health Service Fee is mandatory and supports the campus infirmary which is accessible to all students. It cost $96 per semester for Full Time and $8 per credit for Part Time.

Intercollegiate Athletic Fees will cost $125 per semester for Full Time and $5 per credit for Part Time. The Intercollegiate Athletic Fee is mandatory and supports the athletic facilities and teams.

Student Insurance provides coverage for both Sickness and Accident Insurance. Resident students will have the charge added to their bill and must sign a waiver (by the published deadline) if they do not want the coverage. It's an Annual Charge of $499 which covers Sickness and Accident.

A parking decal is required for all vehicles on campus. Since we do not know who will require a decal, the parking fee is not automatically included on the student bill. Along with your bill, you will receive a parking application. You can complete the application and include the $11 fee with your payment, and a decal will be mailed to you before classes begin. If a student who has a parking decal uses a different vehicle due to their vehicle being unavailable, a temporary parking permit can be obtained from Campus Police on a daily basis.

Dormitories for single occupancy cost $3,495 per semester at the Nassau Wing and double occupancy cost $3,120 per semester. At the Suffolk Wing double will cost $2,835 per semester. The damage deposits are paid at the beginning of the first semester and are refunded, less any damage charges, at the end of the academic year in June and it cost $100. Now meals are offered in plans; the gold 14- 7 day plan cost $1,995 per semester and the silver 10-5 day plan cost $1,925 per semester. The student bill will include a charge for the 7-day Gold14 meal plan. Other optional meal plans are available. These are close cost assessments to get the actual cost contact the University.
