Earl L. Vandermeulen High School provides an atmosphere where students flourish while pursuing their academics and extracurricular activities. It offers a wide array of advanced placement and enrichment programs in addition to courses required for a Regents diploma. Opportunities for accelerated studies are available in English, math, science, social studies, foreign language and computer technology. Advanced placement courses are available in calculus, English, American and European history, environmental earth science, physics, biology, chemistry, Spanish, French, and Latin.
For students with special interests and talents, the High School offers courses in journalism, law, marine science, business office skills, photography, psychology, math and others. Students may also take a foreign language independent program. A selection of nearly 40 vocational courses is available through the Board of Cooperative Education Services (BOCES). Partnerships are available with SUNY Stony Brook, Syracuse University and Long Island University as well as St. Charles and Mather Hospitals in Port Jefferson. The High School also has an exemplary internship program.
A very high percentage of graduating seniors attend college. Port Jefferson grants one of the highest percentages of Regent’s diplomas throughout Long Island, and has one of the highest percentages of Regent’s diplomas in the state. The community is proud to have its students selected as National Merit Scholars, Westinghouse Scholars, Tandy Technical Scholars, College Board AP Scholars and Presidential Classroom representatives. |

this is a very good review and good in education one of the best schools i must say i always get help when i need it and the teachers never give up i love htis school and i always have fun the classes all help in a way and all my friends love the school |
