Brentwood School District

The Brentwood School District was started in 1856. The southern boundary is Spur Drive North and Bay Shore Road to the boundary of Islip and Babylon Towns. Vanderbilt Motor Parkway is the northern boundary with Islip Avenue forming the eastern line. Pilgrim State Hospital lies within the District. The Brentwood Community encompasses an area of about 21 square miles. Nearly 71,000 residents live within the boundaries of the Brentwood School District.

This year we will have around 16,000 students attending eleven elementary and seven secondary schools, making the district the largest school district on Long Island and the largest suburban school district in New York State. Additionally, there are approximately 2,309 individuals employed by the Brentwood School District in teaching and support services.

Goals: The Goals on the Brentwood Public Schools is to provide an educational environment characterized by high expectations and staffed by individuals who are compassionate, supportive, creative and effective. We will actively involve our students, parents, staff and community in striving for educational excellence. Recognizing the uniqueness of all students, we will assist each to achieve his/her potential.
