West Islip School District
Higher standards for everyone is the motto of West Islip School District, which goals are achieved through student-centered learning and activities with hands-on experiences, in the belief that all children can learn when they study in an educationally supportive environment.
At West Islip School District, approximately 2,500 students attend from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. About 2,000 students in Elementary Schools receive instruction from Six through Eight Grades in the Middle Schools, utilizing the educational model proposed by the New York State Board of Regents for the schooling of early adolescents.
The district also houses approximately 1,600 students attending High School and around 200 different courses in basic instruction, as well as accelerated programs in mathematics, science, and foreign language, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary instruction.
